Because of their high energy and nutritional value men were able to sustain long walks. These super-seeds need the warm weather of Central and South America to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their outstanding properties make it no wonder that they have quickly conquered natural food stores around the world:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They contain many vitamins, proteins, soluble fibre, antioxidants, minerals and amino acids in high concentrations. Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids are proportionally very abundant. Other types of vegetables or fruits come nowhere near compared to these &#8220;wonderful&#8221; seeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chia seeds lower blood pressure and protect the heart. (People with low blood pressure should consult their doctor before consuming them.) They help reduce weight because of their ability to absorb liquids causing a feeling of fullness. They very subtly help in cleansing the intestines. An interesting detail for diabetics: chia seeds help stabilize the blood sugar level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Fresh Chia&#8221; is a traditional drink in Central America and Southern Mexico: put a teaspoon of seeds to soak for 20-30 minutes in one cup of water. Stir occasionally to prevent lumps. Flavour the gelatinous and gooey mixture with a little honey and lemon (or lime) and it\u2019s ready to drink.
